FAQs
What is the BASH?

The BASH is IM ABLE’s annual fundraising event. There’s appetizers, dinner, dancing, a brief program to show you the incredible things you’ve made possible over the last year. And, yes, of course, we’ll be asking for your support to help even more people in this upcoming year. And then back to the dancing.

Funds raised at this event help IM ABLE fulfill our mission to remove obstacles that prevent people with physical, cognitive, and/or behavioral challenges from living an active life. In our 15 years, we have found the two largest obstacles are the high cost of adaptive equipment and programming opportunities for people of all abilities. Your donations will help IM ABLE give adaptive equipment grants as well as provide programming that includes people with disabilities.

We will also be honoring this year’s Motivators of the Year. These people/organizations have exhibited a sustained dedication to making sports more inclusive for people with challenges.

  • Beth Kase – for her relentlessly positive attitude, personal determination to keep moving, and inspirational ambition to show the world that adaptive athletes can accomplish anything with the right mindset and community around them
  • Yeager Supply, Inc. – for their abundance of gratitude, always leading conversations with questions on how they can help improve the lives of those we serve, and dedication to Ed and Margaret Yeager’s legacy of sincere altruistic philanthropy

We also make an equipment grant presentation to someone who has the drive, but just needs our help to acquire the equipment they need to pursue their goals.

It’s a free fundraiser? Really?

Yes!*

*well, sort of. It is free to register. The BASH is a fundraiser, IM ABLE’s largest of the year. While you’re enjoying the food, drinks, live music, and meeting athletes of all abilities who have been empowered by IM ABLE, we hope you will choose to donate.

Did you know that a lot of IM ABLE’s programming is free-of-charge to participate? BUT it’s not free-to-provide. Your donations and participation in IM ABLE’s endurance events allow us to provide access and opportunities to people of all abilities and income levels.

What’s the dress code / Party Attire?

Chris Kaag, Founder and CEO says, “I usually wear a bow tie, dress shirt, suspenders but jeans, definitely jeans.” We consulted the internet for this one. Lindsey Love is a senior brand stylist and describes it as “dressy casual” or “smart casual.”  “Wear what makes you feel fabulous,” she says. The event is St. Patrick’s Day theme so there’ll be some green but, most importantly, come prepared to dance the night away to Brass Pocket’s rockin’ tunes.

Also, we’ll bring a whole bunch of adaptive equipment and encourage you to try it out so wear something that will allow you to get moving. Wheelchair basketball, Pickleball, and an obstacle course, bike races down the track. No Excuses, Just Move!

is the bash kid friendly?

This is a party (with a purpose) so it’s probably a good night to call the babysitter. IM FITTERS are welcome. In fact, we’ll be disappointed if they aren’t there!
