It is important for EVERYONE to live healthy lives. That means exercise, eating right, and having a good attitude.  The IM ABLE Foundation recognizes that there is a service gap for fitness program for people with disabilities and is offering a program, in locations in Berks and Lancaster Counties Pennsylvania, to people who have special needs.

Exercising – Trained staff from the Corps Fitness in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania and Spooky Nook Recreational center in Manheim, Pennsylvania will work with individuals and groups. We will evaluate the capabilitiesand of each individual to develop the best fitness plan based long term goals and objectives.  They will get to know you and based on your abilities, interests, and fitness experiences. They will work with you throughout the entire program. If you have any questions or concerns you are encouraged to bring it up with them at any time.

Eating Right – Awareness of what you put in your mouth, how often, and the amount is, is important.
You will learn how to track your meals, the nutritious value of your meals, and choose healthy ones.
Journals will help people document food intake so they can compare the meals they have been eating
for nutritional value and other criteria. Snacks are also an important part of the general food intake.

A Good Attitude – In order to maintain participant’s motivation throughout the program IM ABLE staff will hold group sessions. Journals will be distributed to everyone as a means of venting feelings (positive or negative), documenting progress (regardless of how much), and any food related issues. The first part of this group will be called “living healthy” and will be a discussion of the journal and educational discussion. Participants will be encouraged, but not mandated, to share what they are feeling about the experience. The second part will be called “living happy” and will include something enjoyable. What do you like about the program? What do you like to eat? What is a fun way to exercise at home? Music will be played and achievements awards will be developed then distributed.
Summary – This is a general overview of the program and each session will last _______. At the conclusion the program cycle overall data will be collected and available in a written report. The criteria will be based on the following criteria: participation, progress, attitude, challenges, and successes. Results will be available to agency personnel and prospective funders. If you are
